My ratings are based on a scale of One to Five Stars out of Five. This should give you an approximation of what the ratings mean and an approximation of my tastes. Your mileage may vary.

One Star- Not good. Put the book/ game etc down and never pick it back up. Baby Jesus cries in pain when this book is mentioned.
Movie: Battlefield Earth.
Game: Super Columbine Massacre RPG.
Book: The Night's Dawn Trilogy, Peter Hamilton

Two Stars- Not bad, but not really my bag. I may finish it or not. I likely won't play/ read it again.
Movie: First Knight
Game: Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition
Book: Twilight

Three Stars- Entertaining. Good. Above average. I consider my time well spent. I may read/ play it again if nostalgia or a weird mood hits me.
Movie: Unforgiven
Game: Call of Cthulhu
Book: Red Storm Rising, Tom Clancy

Four Stars- Damn good! I'll certainly re-read this and loan it to friends. This is about as good as it gets.
Movie: Hot Fuzz
Game: Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition
Book: Dragons of Winter Night, Weis and Hickman

Five Stars- Amazing, awesome, perfect. I won't loan this out and I'll likely buy another copy to save for posterity.
Movie: The Empire Strikes Back
Game: Fallout 3
Book: Eagle in the Snow, Wallace Breem
